1. DISCOVER<\/strong>[November – December 2023<\/em>] Awareness-raising intervention: general introduction to Space based on the history of the conquest of space, with a focus on the planet Mars and the Martian simulation missions of the school’s M.D.R.S. club.<\/p>\n

Space Elevator<\/h2>\n

For the second year running, the ISAE-SUPAERO OSE team worked in collaboration with Space Elevator, a non-profit organization dedicated to increasing social diversity and parity in the space industry through DIY projects and inspiring experiences. The aim is to set up technical activities, which they develop and propose, in partner classes.<\/p>\n

This year, with OSE L’ISAE-SUPAERO, 3 high schools and 2 middle schools are involved in the project:<\/p>\n

  • Coll\u00e8ge Jules Verne in Carcassonne<\/li>\n
  • Lyc\u00e9e Claude Nougaro, Caussade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Between January and April, participating establishments were able to create two DIY projects:<\/h3>\n

    DIY 1<\/strong>: Build and program a string light that lights up when the ISS or any other identified satellite passes overhead. The high school students were able to put their Technology and Mathematics lessons into practice with the creation of an arduino assembly and computer programming.<\/p>\n

    DIY 2: Communication of weather data via direct satellite contact<\/strong> using beacons provided by Kineis.
    A mission of exploration is proposed to the students: they want to test a system of beacons that will be used to monitor the weather in the middle of the Atlantic. In the preliminary phase of this mission, they have to test their equipment before sending it out to sea. The program includes tracking Argos satellites, communicating with them, sending data to the Kineis network, forecasting satellite passes, recovering data, and finally assembling, measuring and transmitting results.<\/p>\n
