Timoth\u00e9 Giral went to Berkeley for a year in the Master of Engineering program to spend a year there and graduate. A rich year that ends with an internship at A\u00b3 in theheart of Silicon Valley<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Why did you make this choice?<\/h2>\n

During this year and thanks to the help of the Foundation, I had the chance to study at the University of California, Berkeley, in the Master of Engineering (Meng) program in the Mechanical Engineering department, more specifically in the Advanced Energy Technologies concentration.<\/p>\n

This choice was motivated by my desire to work in the aeronautical propulsion sector, but also by the diversity of the courses offered at Berkeley, which would allow me to feed my curiosity by discovering new fields.<\/p>\n

What do you remember about this year at Berkeley?<\/h2>\n

This year has lived up to my expectations and has certainly been the most rewarding year I have ever experienced. On the academic level, I was able to work on a project to develop an oil spill cleanup system by combustion with other international and American students. This experience was an opportunity to use my acquired skills in the fields of thermodynamics and energy systems, but also to learn to work effectively with people from all walks of life. At the same time, I discovered a growing interest in Data Science and Machine Learning through courses taken in addition to my degree.<\/p>\n

From a cultural point of view, Berkeley is an exceptionally diverse environment that allows for exciting encounters throughout the year and the creation of friendships that I am sure will last a lifetime. On the other hand, I obviously took advantage of this year to visit the United States and its great parks, in California or elsewhere, thus realizing one of the most significant trips of my life.<\/p>\n

Finally, my new interest in data science, mentioned above, led me to start an internship as a Data Scientist at A3, an Airbus subsidiary in the heart of Silicon Valley, allowing me to keep a link with the aeronautics sector! <\/p>\n

Timoth\u00e9 Giral received his scholarship in 2021, thanks to the long-term commitment of a major donor: Jean Lucien Lamy. Jean Lucien Lamy has decided to finance, in addition to the Jeunes Pousses Entrepreneuriat awards, scholarships for departure to the United States. <\/p>\n
