On January 27, 2026, ISAE-SUPAERO and its Foundation co-organized a conference dedicated to dialogue between students and alumni. Hosted by Agnès Trincal, the aim of the event was to create an open forum for discussion about career paths, career choices and the responsibilities associated with management positions.

Through the testimonies of three alumni with particularly rich career paths, students were able to discover the diversity of possible paths after school, but also the common values that structure these paths: commitment, high standards, encounters, curiosity and a sense of responsibility.

Unique trajectories: from students to decision-makers

Throughout the conference, discussions focused on concrete themes directly linked to students’ questions and the realities of the professional world. The speakers were straightforward and to the point, addressing issues such as orientation, opportunities, career choices and evolving responsibilities.

The role of encounters, contacts and networks in building a career path was given pride of place. Speakers emphasized the extent to which professional relationships, mentoring and involvement in collective projects can open up decisive perspectives, often beyond the trajectories initially envisaged.

Discussions also focused on the engineer’s gradual transition to steering, management and decision-making functions. How can we broaden our field of competence? How to move from technical expertise to strategic vision? How to assume responsibility in complex, highly constrained environments? These are just some of the questions that fueled the rich and pragmatic discussions.

The speakers also shared their views on the evolution of professions, organizations and societal expectations, highlighting the importance of adaptability, continuous training and the ability to challenge oneself. By evoking their current activities, the three alumni illustrated the diversity of forms that careers can take at different stages of professional life.
