Eurotour 2022, an adventure in the skies of Europe

Published on

5 Jul 2022

The Eurotour is a student initiative of ISAE SUPAERO. It offers the opportunity to 3 students to fly a plane in order to promote their school, the Toulouse aeronautical basin, and their passion to other international students. In 2022, Martina, Thomas and Louis left from April 25 to 29 between Spain and Portugal.

The journey

The five-day journey saw the crew sail along the coasts of Spain and Portugal. After crossing the Pyrenees, we stopped to refuel near Barcelona and continued on to Valencia, our first destination. On Wednesday we landed in Seville and took advantage of a day without flights to visit this beautiful city. On Thursday we were in Lisbon and on Friday we returned to Toulouse with 2 stops: Bragança and Santander. A total of 3018km!

Toulouse – Sabadell – Valencia – Almeria – Seville – Lisbon – Bragança – Santander – Toulouse

The conferences

UPV (Valencia) – ETSI (Seville) – Técnico (Lisbon)
One of the main objectives of the project was to promote the academic exchanges offered to European students at ISAE-SUPAERO. The crew visited 3 selected universities with the help of Emmanuel Zenou, in charge of international mobilities at ISAE-Supaero. The destinations of this edition were: Universitat Politecnica de Valencia, Escuela Superior de Ingenieria de Sevilla and Tecnico Lisboa. During the conferences, we presented the academic opportunities offered by ISAE-Supaero, as well as the activities and clubs available to students through the Student Association, the Arts Association and the Sports Association. We also answered questions about student life in Toulouse and other practical aspects (housing, registration fees, etc.)

The project assessment

The project was a success, both because of the good weather throughout the week and because of the interactions we had with the students from the Spanish and Portuguese universities. We also improved our piloting techniques and learned to master the best practices for international flights and stopover logistics. At the end of the course, the experience acquired on TB20 allowed each of us to obtain the qualification “retractable gear” and “variable pitch propeller”.
We hope to have transmitted our passion for aeronautics to as many people as possible and, above all, we hope to have inspired many students to come and study at ISAE-Supaero!
